For over 75 years, Baumgartner’s Furniture has been more than a business — it’s been a family tradition. Founded in 1949 by George Baumgartner, our family-owned, locally-operated store has proudly served Mid-Missouri with a personal touch and a heartfelt commitment to our customers. Across four generations, we’ve built our reputation on hometown hospitality and unparalleled service.

Our story began in the mid-1940s when George and his father, Emmett, transformed a small gas station in Kingdom City into a thriving hub of entrepreneurial ventures. From towing services to the area’s first television sales, the Baumgartners were innovators with an eye for opportunity. After an unexpected twist — literally, when a truck crashed into their restaurant — they took their passion for service in a new direction. George opened a furniture store in Auxvasse, and Emmett soon joined him to help build what would become a lasting legacy.

In 1999, Baumgartner’s expanded to Columbia, introducing even more options for our growing customer base. Today, our Columbia location features a dedicated La-Z-Boy Gallery and a state-of-the-art mattress showroom, while our Auxvasse store continues to embody the warmth and charm of our roots.
